A few days ago, my dad came around and installed the newly-recharged battery on Egan’s car. But still, no go. We opted to have it fixed by his childhood friend and my former landlord in the next few weeks.
The jeepney ride we took from my place to Quiapo took less than 30 minutes. It was already past 4pm then and we had little time to look around — have our fortune told, check out the great DSLR buys in Hidalgo, sweep the sidestreets for the latest DVDs and whatnot. Pickpockets didn’t even have the time to loot us of our money. We were probably walking too fast and random for them to get close enough.
We were supposed to get a new guitar amp, stand and case. We found a few shops that sell the amp we wanted. Among the throng of religious images, electrical supplies, glowing alarm clocks, my dad told me stories of his college days along Escolta, and how he would save up for a week or two just to eat at Jollibee (I heard it was the first in Manila, not sure about the info, though).
That was a moment. We never had that kind of talk for quite awhile.
We got the stuff eventually and grabbed a bite of that yummy, fresh lumpia from Globe (No, not the cellphone provider. Its somewhere along Escolta) before finally going home. I recommend going there at least once and eating at least two servings before you die.
We didn’t like the idea of staying around till after dark. I knew well enough what happens to wandering outsiders in Quiapo. After a quick dinner at home, he was off to Tagaytay again.
I then caught sight of the calendar — it was Father’s Day the next day.
She came over, I gave her my newly-repainted bass guitar, and we came up with these photos with her camera.

Okay. The hiatus was long enough to make Rip Van Winkle wet his pants.
Ever since I moved to my new company a few months back, I haven’ t had the chance to blog regularly. Every working day made me busier than a bee, I’ve had little time to do sociable things (except for that one time when we went to Calatagan for a weekend vacation).
A lot (READ: too many to remember) of things had happened since the last entry. I’ll start from the most recent thing and see how good my memory still is.
- I recently got a PC with my own money. Nothing would make me feel better than that.
- The template you’re seeing right now took me an hour to look at and half a day dissect to my liking. Expect this to be my base template until I get to finish my own.
- I just came back from a quick, 1.5 day trip to my grandfolks’ place in Bataan. I jumped off a pier a couple of times until my dad got the timing of taking a photo of me in mid-air. We stopped after my sister saw human defacation floating slowly towards the spot like a drugged jellyfish.
- One cause for the delayed update was the crappy internet service I’m getting from my ISP since the first rain this summer happened. Speeds dropped to a very, very frustrating upload of >10kbps. I was close to plugging in the phone cable and do stuff the old way.
- I am now living at Egan’s place with Dave, Alma and Liel (who stay here only during the weekdays) ever since Egan left for Miami to pursue the cruise ship photographer job he was aiming for months ago. Last I heard from him, he was in Europe oggling chicks in a still-sunny 9 PM.
- Kitch is now in the last semester of her semi-Nursehood. In less than a year, she’ll be leaving for the US. I’m still not sure how I can cope with it.
- I might find myself working during the day a few weeks from now. After months of doing color recomps, logo changes, photo manipulations of people who think I’ve resized them wrongly (which mostly isn’t the case.), I finally grew tired of it. I NEEDED new comps.
- The last band practice we had was 2-3 weeks ago. There will be one this coming Sunday.
That is why I hate History…
