One good thing about keeping in touch with friends even after college is that you get to enjoy perks not brought by your regular job but can be easily acquired through somebody else’s snap of a finger.
Knowing that the Pulp Summer Slam happens annually sometime between April and May (thus, the name), I incessantly bugged Elaine for a backstage pass. She initially offered me a regular ticket, which for me is equal to a real big death wish. As similar events in the past would attest, this year’s installment would definitely be not for the faint-heart. Though in the past, I had experienced being bashed, scratched, slammed, crashed, stomped and whatever physically injury people could come up with. Getting hit by a sand-filled soda can AND/OR a water bottle with something else inside is a must for the moshpit first-timer. Hey, it’s what we lived for back then.
However, it seems like today’s music has produced the roughest, raunchiest, craziest kids the neighboring generations have ever seen. Elaine calls this bunch the Kultong Itim, which should be self-explanatory. I blame MTV. I was not about to let myself get flung into different directions. In the end, she was able to come up with an extra all-access pass which made me so anxious to be there, I played DotA til 12PM that same day after work (wah?).
I was warned by a friend that getting inside the venue (Amoranto Stadium) was not gonna be an easy task. I steeled myself for some minor resistance somewhere between the gate and the bouncers. We passed by the unmistakably endless assemblage of black-clad high school-ish kids with matching personal effects that could well substantiate their being “Gothic”. I bet half, if not all, of them don’t even know what the word means.
I could go on, but my officemates are PM-ing me already, saying a GR server’s up. I’ll let the photos do the rest.

With Jay of Kamikazee. Right after we got in, Jay was approached by Mac for this photo op.

If you’re lucky, I might just shell out details of how the night went on my next entry. But right now, my window’s swamped with instant messages.
